Who can stop you…but you?

As I see it, the greatest threats to this millennial generation are apathy, materialism, a lack of humility, and disregard for one another. Coming from a generation that seemingly fought for every single human right we possess, this is disturbing to me, and I’d like to be proven wrong. For folks of color, for poor folks, immigrants, and those who managed to survive and thrive at the bottom rung of the socio-economic ladder, our realities were, and yet remain: generational poverty of many sorts – material, intellectual, emotional;  unemployment and underemployment;  mass incarceration; and the indignity of home evictions.

However, in the face of it all, I remain hopeful and full of faith. We don’t give up because we don’t give in.

I absolutely believe we will survive as whole, intact people…not bitter, not hateful, but whole!

For regardless of what I see and hear on certain days, I am confident of this one singular truth:

“Faith is the substance of things hoped for. It is the evidence of that which you don’t see.” I may not see the hand that lifts me up, but I absolutely know it is there.

I am standing strong – still standing, and this is my evidence.
